Deadly Little Secret: A Review

From Goodreads:

Some secrets shouldn't be kept...

Up until three months ago, everything in sixteen-year-old Camelia's life had been fairly ordinary: decent grades; an okay relationship with her parents; and a pretty cool part-time job at the art studio downtown. But when Ben, the mysterious new guy, starts junior year at her high school, Camelia's life becomes anything but ordinary.

Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia. She's reluctant to believe the rumors, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. She's inexplicably drawn to Ben...and to his touch. But soon, Camelia is receiving eerie phone calls and strange packages with threatening notes. Ben insists she is in danger, and that he can help--but can he be trusted? She knows he's hiding something... but he's not the only one with a secret.

From the best-selling author of Blue is for Nightmares comes a story of paranormal romance that's sure to be a thrilling and chilling teen favorite.

Review:

I am torn in reviewing Deadly Little Secret because although I'm not jumping up and down my seat after reading it, I found the writing of Stolarz particularly good.  I found it easy to read the book and engaged although at times I feel like I'm not into the whole stalker-type story.

Rating:

Although I like the way the book was written, I think I will not pursue reading the following Touch Series.  For immediate readers, I can recommend the book and be drawn in the whole crime-solving thing (as well as Wake!).

Love spells between Harry Potter and Twilight stars

She might be Harry Potter's ultimate sweetheart on-screen but currently, Bonnie Wright (a.k.a. Ginny Weasley) is dating Jamie Campbell Bower.  She confirmed the news thru Ok Magazine on the night of her 19th birthday an said that they have been seeing each other for a few months.

Bower is set to play the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the last Harry Potter movie, The Deathly Hallows.  He played the role of Caius in Twilight Saga's New Moon.

check out the post on E! Online.

Tithe: A Review

From Goodreads:

Welcome to

the realm of

very scary

faeries!

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces the sixteen-year-old back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms -- a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Newcomer Holly Black's enormously powerful voice weaves teen angst, riveting romance, and capriciously diabolical faerie folk into an enthralling, engaging, altogether original reading experience.

Review:

You think fairies are all pixie-dust and cute stuffs.  Well, you got it all wrong.  Those are stuffs of childhood and bedtime story.  Time to wake up and see fairies as you've never seen them before.  Their beauty is matched by their wickedness, their kindness masked the cruelty they hold, and how their truthfulness is nothing short but their device of manipulation.

Kaye thought that her life is bleak.  She is about to get thrown into a darker world that will turn her life upside down.  Because she may not be who she think she is and she is caught between the world of fairies and the mortal.  Uncertain with her new found fey (who owes her his allegiance and happened to be a knight), her knowledge of fairies and instinct to survive may be the only things that will help her come out breathing in the world of fairies.

A must read for teens and fairy tale lovers alike.  Because we have to wake up and see that it's not all beauty and kindness in the world, here or theirs.

Ink Exchange: A Review

From Goodreads:

Unbeknownst to mortals, a power struggle is unfolding in a world of shadows and danger. After centuries of stability, the balance among the Faery Courts has altered, and Irial, ruler of the Dark Court, is battling to hold his rebellious and newly vulnerable fey together. If he fails, bloodshed and brutality will follow.

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.

The tattoo does bring changes; not the kind Leslie ha dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils. . . .

Review:

The second book of the Wicked Lovely series focuses on another story where Leslie, one of Aislinn's friend, gets involved with a faery of the Dark Court.  Caught clueless in-between contrasting faery courts, Leslie only wishes to get a momentary reprieve of her wretched life (which she tried to hide) and feel good about herself again.  Despite being drawn to one of Keenan's uncle/adviser, Niall she feels that he is too good to be true for her.  When her tattoo brings about change in her and mysteriously being pulled towards Irial, she is thrust in a situation that rivals her own nightmares.

This one is my second favorite after Wicked Lovely.  I adore Niall!  I can feel his pain on wanting but not allowed, trying to be a changed man or a better person only to be betrayed in the end.  And here the tension between Niall and Irial is introduced, as well as other important characters that will play significant roles in the later books.

Leslie's story will be set as the background or main focus where we will get to glimpse what is happening in the Summer Court, how Aislinn is balancing her life as the new Summer Queen, living a mortal life, and continuing her relationship with Seth.  Her choices will not only have consequences for her court but for Leslie as well.

I wanted to have a tattoo afterwards, because it's more than art, it has meaning for a person.

Happy Hearts' Day!

Happy Hearts' Day, everyone!  And in the light of the love day, I share this picture with you.  I happened to see this picture of once lovers, Alex Pettyfer and Emma Roberts.  I saw them as Jace and Clary from the Mortal Instruments.  Their love story still clings to my memory like the scent of the first rain in summer.

We all have our own love story.  We all have loved, lost and found love again.  What matters is that we have loved and know how to.  For those who were lucky to have kept their love, congratulations.  To those who haven't, "love is patient.  love is kind".  And so we wait.

Head on to the main blog to fill-out the form!

I think it's about time for Book Bound's first Mega Giveaway!

As I'm sure you all know by now, I am a para-freak. Paranormal Romance = LOVE.

But 2009 was a year for spectacular YA novels. I have never filled my bookshelves with so much YA...and more importantly, GOOD YA.

That being said, here's what's up for grabs:

1. The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
2. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
3. Fallen by Lauren Kate
4. The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren Kate
5. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
6. Eyes Like Stars: Theatre Illuminata, Act I by Lisa Mantchev
7. The Seven Rays by Jessica Bendinger
8. The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
9. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
10. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
11. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
12. Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins
13. The Awakening (Darkest Powers, Book 2) by Kelley Armstrong
14. Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr
15. City of Glass (Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare

Awesome, right? Well, it gets even better. As you can see, there are currently 15 books to choose from. To start, there will be three winners.

1st Prize: Three (3) books of choice
2nd Prize: Two (2) books of choice
3rd Prize: One (1) book of choice

I am currently sitting at 264 followers. If I reach 300 followers, I will add another winner, as well as add one more book to each prize. So at 300 followers:

1st Prize: Four (4) books of choice
2nd Prize: Three (3) books of choice
3rd Prize: Two (2) books of choice
4th Prize: One (1) book of choice

For every 50 new followers, I will add a new winner. However, the top prize will be five (5) books. So after 350 followers, the top 4 prizes will be maxed out.

If I make it up to 400 followers, another winner will be added and will win their choice of one book and so on. (Sorry if it's confusing. I know what I mean, so I will update everyone when a new winner is added.)

I will also add two (2) books to the pile everytime we have a new winner!

I would like to thank the following authors/publishers for contributing to this giveaway:
