Armchair BEA Kick-Off: Who, Me?

Armchair BEA Day 1:  Introductions

Welcome to my first post for this year's Armchair BEA.  I had fun last year when I first joined this event.  And since I cannot attend BEA again this year, I am joining again and have our little own BEA online. :)

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

Hi everyone!  My name is Len but I go by the alias of Maidenveil.  I have been blogging, I think since late 2009.  But it wasn't until the first half of 2010 that I realized how I'm getting all serious about it.

I got into blogging primarily because I love books.  I love reading, and when I realized there is an active book lover community online, I was thrilled to join.  Initially in forums first, then went on to blogging to share books I loved, read, and recommend.  Then discovered there's more to the book blogging community, and the rest was history as they say.

2. Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.

I am both a pastry baker and a counseling psychologist.  Though my work now is more focused on food than counseling people.  I guess I could say my specialty is food therapy. :D

3. If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

If I could eat dinner with an author, I guess I would pick Sarah Rees Brennan.  I love her books and she's super funny.  Read her parodies of The Vampire Diaries dialogue on twitter, and her upcoming book, Unspoken is superb!  I can't wait to share my thoughts about that book soon. :)

If I could eat dinner with a character, I would love to have dinner with Magnus Bane.  We could talk about both men and women, history, and our fascination with broken stuffs *wink*.  It's going to be a sazzy dinner. :D

4. What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

Middle Earth or Hogwarts! BOTH!  Who wouldn't want to visit Middle Earth?  As long as I don't end up in Mordor, it will be awesome!  And Hogwarts!  As a wizard-at-heart, a visit to Hogwarts has long been due. :)

5. What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?

My favorite part of the book blogging community is its love for books and reading.  I think there were issues here and there that recently challenged us, but I think we are better than that.  With that, I would love to see more matured bloggers, who are more responsible with what they share online.  Across time, we shouldn't lose sight of what brings us together:  our common love for books and fondness for reading.
