"An ancient and malevolent female immortal is rising in Manhattan to reclaim her son, the archangel Raphael. Only one thing stands in her way: Elena Deveraux, a vampire-hunter-and Raphael's lover."
In this third book in the series, Elena will have to face the most dangerous enemy she could possibly imagine: Raphael's mother.
Yes, it might sound funny at first. But not if your lover's mother turn out to be an ancient archangel. And they say that when an ancient rise, cities fall.
Elena gotten stronger now as an angel. She can now fly and sort of return to her guild hunter duties. Raphael enlists her help in uncovering the truth behind recent vampire attacks in the city. Elena can't help but notice the changes in Raphael. He becomes the Raphael in the silence - the scary archangel - and Elena fears that she might lose him.
They search for Raphael's mother sleeping sight with the hopes to intervene when she awakes. They both feel hope and fear: hope that she is not mad, and fear that she is. And in the case that the latter is true, will Raphael and Elena do what they need to do to stop her?
Raphael's history with her mother is uncovered, as well his father and the events that lead him to doubt his mother's sanity. Then there is also Elena's relationship with her family and her struggle to be civil with his father. We also get to meet Illium's mother in the story.
Another fabulous addition to the Guild Hunter series from Nalini Singh. The ending will not be what you thought it would be.
The mature contents of the book makes this off-limits to kids. Like the first book this contains sexual themes, gore and violence, and use of explicit language.
